With a breeding history dating back to 1960 and a female flock of over 500 head, Kentish Downs has been able to select from a wide base of proven genetics.
Kentish Downs females are fertile, easy to manage, functional, efficient and a high milking ability. The stocking rates at North Billabong and the need to minimise the amount of time spent handling sheep puts a lot of selection pressure on the stud flock hence the females must be efficient to produce commercially viable progeny.
Selection comes from strong female family lines that h ave proven themselves over many generations and continue to provide commercially functional sheep.
A very important focus of the stud ewes is to have clean points, large frame and good on their feet. |
